MEDIA GUIDELINES
For Press Use Only
Journalist Accreditation
Journalists and members of the press interested in covering the CIES 2026 Conference are invited to complete the Media Accreditation Form. A CIES representative will contact you to guide you through the registration process for journalists.
Once you have received confirmation of your registration as a journalist for the CIES 2026 Conference, please ensure that you bring your valid press credentials to the CIES registration desk at the Conference venue, the Hilton San Francisco Union Square.
We kindly ask members of the press to follow these guidelines:
- No photos/videos/digital images are allowed of the hotels or the main venue associates/workers, or other location workers where the Conference will be held.
- Media must not block pathways in any of the ballrooms or meeting room entrances/exits with camera equipment or any other equipment due to fire and emergency codes.
- Media must be registered and wear the CIES Conference badge at all times. Any journalist or media member not wearing the badge will be directed to the CIES registration area. If any member of the media tries to bypass this request, the entire press crew will be asked to leave the Conference.
When attending sessions:
- The media must be silent while participants are presenting. Only after all the participants have presented and the participants have opened the floor for questions, can the media ask questions. Under no circumstances can the presenters be interrupted.
- If the session has a designated seating area for the media, all members of the media must be located in this area.
About CIES 2026
From May 28 to April 1, San Francisco, CA
The 2026 Annual Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) will be held in San Francisco from March 28 to April 1, 2026. The theme of the conference is “Re-examining Education and Peace in a Divided World.” This theme invites us to revisit one of the most enduring and foundational missions of the field—peace—on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of our Society.
We encourage a broad range of submissions that reflect diverse perspectives, and aim to foster meaningful dialogue and critical reflection. Through these contributions, we hope to generate thought-provoking discussions that advance the goals of global peace, social cohesion, and justice.
We welcome proposals from across disciplines, regions, and methodologies, particularly those that focus on the intersections of peace and education, as well as those engaging with the broader dimensions of Comparative and International Education. In addition to paper presentations, the conference will offer interactive workshops and networking events designed to promote collaboration and support the growth of our field.
